High Clicks – Week of May 2nd, 2011

Here’s this weeks edition of High Clicks! Fun and exciting things from around the Irish Dance world!

1. A video of Tyler Schwartz doing a one and half skater spin! He notes that it’s pretty dangerous (and hasn’t tried it since) and it looks rather terrifying, but it does also look super impressive.

2. The NYC Irish Dance Festival was yesterday! Here’s a link to the schedule of events, a NYTimes suggestion about it, a picture of the day, and video from past years! Wish I could have gone, it was a beautiful day in NYC.

3. Feis results from this weekend! CNY, Four Provinces, Little Rock, Matierin Spring Feis in the Park, Strabane. Any one have any I missed? Also, check out my post on the Four Provinces Feis.

4. The WIDA Worlds was last weekend! Here’s a parade of champions video and the results! The standard keeps growing year after year! A voy forum exclusively for WIDA was also just created. Stay tuned for a post on the WIDA Worlds sometime this week.

5. Similiarly, the An Comhdhail All-Ireland and Internations was last weekend as well. Here’s are the results! Any videos?

6. If you haven’t seen it yet, the first reviews are out for Jig! Read the post from earlier this week with links to reviews.

7. A great Irish Dance tumblr site with a hilarious Irish dance related meme! Love it! This one is particularly true in my life as I just finished my last college final ever!!

8. Diddlyi posted a video with National Champion Nick Andison preparing for Worlds, Click Track. It’s a well done and inspiring video! He ended up getting 8th, so what’s he’s doing is definitely working!

And that’s what I found fun this week! Anyone find anything else exciting this week?

  1. What is WIDA? I’ve never heard of that organization. An Coimisiun and An Comhdhail, obviously. Even the North American Irish Dance Federation. But what is WIDA and where is it located out of?

    • WIDA is the World Irish Dance Association, based out of Europe. I’m currently making a post about the organization because it’s one of the upcoming organizations in Irish Dance. I’m an An Coimisiun dancer, so it’s learning for me too!
