DIY Mineral Make Up for Dancers – Eye Shadow

For the last in the series of the DIY Mineral Make Up from Clare Jeffcock, we have the most fun! Make your own eyeshadow. Check out the previous DIY posts on lip balm and blush. Also, don’t forget to check out Clare’s website and facebook page to help her and her friends attend the 2013 Blas Summer School at the University of Limerick. Best of Luck!

Mineral Eyeshadow

This is where the fun really starts! I personally have made over twenty mineral eyeshadows, and my passion for this has just begun. I love good-quality mineral makeup, but feeding my addiction to it has cost me well over $100 in the past few months (wait, did I just confess that?). But if I make it… I spend far less than that for more makeup! So, without further gushing, here’s the recipe…

Carnauba-coated sericitehttp://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item_id=669&category_id=13 (Note: this is the same stuff used for the blush and  many of the other loose powder cosmetics I’m going to teach you how to make! It’s really useful!)

Cosmetic Mica. Here are some color suggestions:

Everything Else

Antique Silver – http://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item_id=11&category_id=12

Antique Copper – http://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item_id=9&category_id=12

Black Mica – http://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item_id=26&category_id=12

Dragonfly Mica (DUOCHROME!!) – http://www.tkbtrading.com/item.php?item_id=334&category_id=12

Mix together your desired amount of mica and sericite. The only real guidelines here are that you should probably have at least 25% sericite if you want to be able to wear it without it falling off! Have fun, and don’t be scared to try blending together different micas – most of the most gorgeous colours out there are made by blending!!

Thanks so much, Clare! Love all the DIY recipes you’ve given us. Good luck in all your dancing endeavors! Has anyone tried the recipes? What do you think?

Stay Fashionable, Feisers!
